Via Con Dios by Manon Elder |
If you have not had an opportunity to visit the American
Motorcycle Association Hall of Fame in Pickerington, Ohio, I suggest planning a
weekend to check it out. The Hall of Fame is somewhat small but is huge with
motorcycle history. They have a great collection of road, off road, and racing
bikes that spans from the early 1900s to the present; a gallery dedicated to
the men and women who have made a major contribution to the motorcycle world;
Bike Craft section exhibiting custom bikes; and lastly, a gallery area located
on the lower level of the Hall, that is currently exhibiting artworks by local,
national, and international artists, whose works deals with the multi-faceted
world of motorcycles, titled Two Wheels + Motor: An International Exhibition.

Being a biker that is also an artist, I was pleasantly
surprised when I first encountered this exhibit, and had to make a second and
even third visit, to fully appreciate the incredible works of art on display. Some
of the notable pieces that caught my eyes are Chrissy Mountkapp’s painting ‘Three
Kings and Kat Nip’; Manon Elder’s tribute painting of Indian Larry titled, ‘Via
Con Dio’; Troy Lee’s painting ‘Magoo’; Eric Herrmann’s tribute painting to the
iconic movie Easyrider titled, ‘American, Always’; Mary Watt Yeadon’s ‘1967
Triumph Bobber’; and, Columbus, Ohio based artist Ken Goodson’s paintings
‘Rally In Sturgis’.

To be honest, I was impressed with the entire exhibition,
but unfortunately, cannot list all the artists and artworks on exhibit. With
that said, take some time from your schedule and plan to visit the AMA Hall of
Fame yourself! Two Wheels + Motor: An International Exhibition will be up till
March 31, 2015.
