RIDE TO NOWHERE, No.1: It's Not Always About The Journey, Sometimes It Is Just About The Ride

My Bro Colin & Me before starting our RIDE TO NOWHERE, June 29, 2016, Photo credit: Colin Dearth

It has been 14 months since my last blog, and it just seemed right to start this up again. And, the best way to do this thang is to write about one of my closest bros Colin. Colin and I are both Army veterans; he served with the 82nd Airborne Division where he was a Parachute Rigger, and the one unit that is dearest to me that I served with was the 3rd Armored Division, where I served with 503rd Military Police Company as a MP. I had also served with two other active duty units and two reserve units.

The day started with us riding out to IRON PONY MOTOSPORTS in Westerville, OH to pick up some brakes and other motorcycle stuff for Colin's Hardtail Rat Bike. The parts Colin needed were not in stock so he had to ordered everything. Once that was said and done, we looked at our watches, and decided to get some lunch.

We rode out to a restaurant in Upper Arlington, OH called YABO, and met up with his eldest daughter, Colleen. After chowing down and having some good conversations, Colin and I looked at our watches again, asked if either of us had anything to do? Neither of us had any plans, no agendas, nada to do, so we decided to ride to nowhere. We picked a direction, and rode for almost two hours riding along the Scioto River to Delaware, OH where we stopped off at Independent Motorsports to check out bikes, then finished our ride taking the long way around to get back to Columbus. To say the least, it was a good day!

This ride inspired me to start making 20 seconds videos (video above) to post not only here, but also on my Tweeter account (Leni D. Anderson Tweeter) since videos cannot be no longer than twenty seconds. I plan to post more photos and videos from other events and happenings I had done the past fourteen months from the 2015 The Devil's Staircase in Oregania, OH to the 2015 & 2016 Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky, OH. So, be on the look out.....and,

PINNED. 5: Video featuring bands RIDE TO RUIN & GOOD ENGLISH

PINNED is an annual biker gathering in Columbus, OH, and this year marked PINNED OHIO's fifth year. It is held at the Rice Paddy located at 1454 N. Grant Avenue. This video features bands RIDE TO RUIN & GOOD ENGLISH, familiar faces to some, and of course BIKES. To say the least, I had a great time and hope everyone enjoy the vid. FYI, I did not have my video equipment so I recorded the bands using my LG smart phone. Anyway, I have much to write about so watch out for my next entry on Raven's Biker Blog!

Bike Season Begins: 2015 Easyriders Bike Show Tour, Columbus, OH

Easyriders Bike Show Tour 2015, photo by Leni D. Anderson

This past weekend the Easyriders Bike Show Tour came to the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, and for me, this officially starts my bike season! Even though the weather and streets are chilled and crappy, there are a number of biker events scheduled for the next month to feed my appetite to get me through till spring. But till then.......

Me & my Bro Colin
This year, like the year before, and the year before that, my Bro Colin and I met up at the show to gander at bikes & babes, see a few friendly faces we have not seen since the last show, and lay down a bill  or two for t-shirts and other goods. This year was a bit different, at least for me because the pics I usually take for my memory sake had to be prioritized because I was also there to take pictures for Ridn' On Motorcycle Magazine (www.ridinon.com/home/home.htm). So, the images I am presenting in this blog are not the prime choices of the batch because they were reserved for the magazine. With that said, I, like the times before, had a great time hanging out with my Bro!

While at the show I had the great opportunity to meet the awesome Kevin Bean're aka Bean're! If you are not familiar with the biker world, Bean're has become sort of a legend in his own right. Riding his purple Hog and wearing his most excellent top hat around the world. His travels has taken him across the U.S., Canada Europe, Morocco and Australia. We got to talk for a bit trading tales about ourselves, people we've met, and private islands. Bean're has written an autobiography about his life and travels  titled "Bean're: Motorcycle Nomad." I just started reading it, so, I cannot jabber too much about it besides I'm enjoyed the ride so far.

The Easyriders show this year, I have to say, was much better than last year. There were more bikes showcased, and a number of them actually looked like they hit pavement and were not just show pieces. It's not that I do not like the show bikes because I do, and I have been inspired to incorporate some of the ideas I've gotten from them on mine. But, the bikes that impressed me the most were the ones I know are hitting "Rubber to Asphalt!"

When all is said and done, this weekend was a good weekend, and I am ready to take my Hog out of the garage, put ass on leather, twist the throttle, and roll out some miles.
