American Motorcycle Association: Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum

If you live in central Ohio or are planning to visit the area, and are interested in the evolution of motorcycles, I want to suggest visiting the American Motorcycle Association: Motorcycle Hall of Fame located at 13515 Yarmouth Dr., Pickerington, OH. The museum is somewhat small, but large in history. In this blog, I am highlighting some of the motorcycles they have on permanent display as well as using this posting as a teaser for an article I am writing for the February 2015 issue of Ridin' On Motorcycle Magazine spotlighting their current (visual art) exhibit titled "2 Wheels + Motor: An International Art Exhibition." Additionally, look out for my article in Thunder Roads Ohio in January 2015, that is if it was approved for publication. Fingers are crossed.......

I hope you enjoy the images, and see yuns in 2015! Have a Wonderful Christmas and New Year!

Sincerely,
Raven

• Highlights: Easyriders Bike Show Tour, February 2013

I'm currently writing an article that includes the February 2014 Easyriders Bike Show at the Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio so I have decided to show highlights pics from the 2013 EBS. I had a great time hanging with the gang Colin, Rex, Kristina & Tommy. The pic above and a few below are at the R Bar located at 413 N. Front Street, and the last pic with me and Colin was at the Park Street Cantina located at 491 N. Park Street, both in the Short North District in Columbus, Ohio.

• Day Trip: Breakfast & Beer, 10-25-14

This Day Trip blog begins with me receiving a text from my bro Sonny Friday evening asking if I had any plans Saturday morning, and if I didn't, was I up to riding out to have breakfast at Ben & Joy's Restaurant located at 35 S. London Street in Mount Sterling, Ohio. And basically, my response was Hell Yeah!

We decided to meet up around 9:30 a.m. that October 25th butt ass cold morning at Ten Mile Inn in Galloway, Ohio, then head west on U.S. Route 40 and take any and all back routes to get to our destination. I had arrived at our starting point first and about five minutes later Sonny and his wife Linda showed up. Since I am not a cold weather fan, I had layers of clothing on along with my leather jacket and chaps as did Linda but wearing her own clothes of course; Sonny on the other hand, being the arctic warrior that he is only had on a H-D Devil's Head t-shirt with a long sleeve shirt underneath it. After we did of our morning greetings; we pressed our starter switches, twisted the throttles, and put rubber to asphalt.

The first 5 seconds of the ride I thought to myself for some strange reason, this ride would make Ron Jeremy have to use a penis enlarger! Please, don't ask me why I thought that, it just.....how can I say this gently.....popped up!?!?

It took us about forty plus minutes to get to Ben & Joy's, and sit ourselves down for the type of meal only a grandmother can make. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive to our breakfast needs, and kept our coffee cups steaming to the bream. By the time we left with full bellies, the temperature had gone up where Linda and I were able to take some of the layering off and throw into our saddle bags. We stood next to our bikes deciding whether we were going to head back to Columbus, or continue to ride and find bar to go to. Obviously, we said RIDE & FIND A BAR!

Since Mt. Sterling was just down the way from Deer Creek Reservoir and Dam, we hopped on our bikes and rode out. It was one of those beautiful rides going through small towns and country roads with canopies of tree branches displaying their fall leaves over our heads. We eventually stopped at the Deer Creek Dam, and chilled there for awhile.

Eventually, we had our fill of nature and said it was time for beer, but before we could do that we needed to feed in our bikes. We rode to Williamsport, Ohio and found a gas station, and because we did not see any bars around, we asked the attendant if there was one near by? Thankfully, our dilemma was like one of those idioms "if it was a snake, it would have bitten you" because right behind the gas station was a bar called Dawg Ugly located at 121 S. Water Street.. Unfortunately, it was closed. So, if the idiom had been true, it would had been a dead snake which was still no help to us.

Since we were about a fifteen to twenty minutes ride to Circleville, Ohio we made our way there, and as soon as we rode into town one of the old faithful bars there called Main Street Pub located at 207 W. Main Street was in our direct sight of vision.

The owner and his mom (pictured with me above) were really nice people, and Linda, Sonny and I sat around for a few rounds, listened to the e-juke box, and had some good conversation. After one more for the road we decided it was time to go somewhere else since our breakfast ride morphed into a bar hopping ride. We thought about going a half hour south of Circleville to Chillicothe, Ohio, but decided we wanted to go somewhere closer to Columbus and went to Scioto Downs Racino.

We ordered our beverages of choice, watched some of the college football games on the large screen TVs, and  talked some more. After an hour or so, we called it quits for the day, and left for home. This was another good Day Trip.
